Laptop battery: I’ve been living in Mortal Danger and didn’t know it…
So remember the Sony-made batteries that were causing computers to burn up awhile back? And that caused Dell and Apple (and others) to issue a voluntary recall? Well turns out the battery in my Dell was supposed to be recalled and I only found out today!
Cue dramatic music.
Well, ok, maybe I wasn’t necessarily in Mortal Danger.
Why am I only finding out now? I hadn’t checked into that story enough because I’d heard it had only affected newer laptops and figured my then 2+ year old Dell wasn’t on the list. Yep, I “assumed”. Well on a good note… the reason I found out is because I was battery shopping. Now I’ll be canceling my order because I’ll be getting a new battery compliments of Dell. I feel sorry for the folks who had their batteries burn up (and especially for the person who got hurt because of it) but for me this is actually a good thing.
